Have you ever wondered what the other side of the Tagus River looks like? Come with us across the 25th April Bridge and let’s go explore the town of Almada and the most impressive sights it has to offer!

During the amazing trip to Almada we will visit the Cristo Rei and Casa da Cerca with a walk through the old part of town and the gardens by the riverside with the best view of Lisbon.

The Cristo Rei statue is part of the Santuário Nacional de Cristo Rei. The construction of this National Monument started in 1950 and was completed in 1959.The base was designed by architect António Lino; the Christ figure, which stands at 28 meters high, was designed by sculptor Francisco Franco de Sousa. It was inspired by the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), after the Cardinal Patriarch of Lisbon visited that monument.

Casa da Cerca – Center for Contemporary Art is a center for research and dissemination of contemporary art. The first exhibition was an exhibition of Amadeo de Souza Cardoso.
