DESCRIPTION
This time let’s go south and learn more about history and culture by visiting Évora! It is a very old city, where each stone has a different story to tell about various points in time, so no wonder it was also ranked the second most historic city of Portugal!
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Évora presents a well-preserved old town centre, still partially enclosed by medieval walls, and a large number of monuments dating from various historical periods, including a Roman Temple.
Located in the middle of Alentejo (flat area with lots of green landscape), it will show you the true rural Portugal.
We will also visit the medieval village of Monsaraz, it’s a small village surrounded by historic walls and at one end a 13th century castle.
The Monsaraz Castle is the highlight of your visit to this medieval town, you can have a stunning 360º turn. In the village of Monsaraz, you will find restaurants and craft shops, passing by Largo Dom Nuno Álvares Pereira where you can appreciate the architecture of the Igreja Matriz da Nossa Senhora da Lagoa, the Misericórdia church opposite and the Pelourinho de Monsaraz.
